Day five -Angelus at St. Peter's

We attended Mass at Santo Spirito.  The 10 a.m. Mass is for English speaking pilgrims every Sunday. The church also has relics of St. John Paul II and St. Faustina.

 Following Mass, we visited with some pilgrims and then we made our way to St. Peter's Square for the Holy Father's Angelus address.  We found a shady spot just outside the square.  Although we couldn't see him very well, his strong voice resonated in our hearts.

Day 18 Old places, new discoveries

We began the day by visiting old places in a new way. Sister Mary Agnes, Sister Mary Hanah, and Sister Mary Maximilian went to Saint Peter's Basilica first thing in the morning in order to go up to the cupola. The climb up was more of a challenge than usual: there were no lights to guide their steps, so the Sisters went on in the dark. This sounds like a spiritual lesson, and maybe it was... and they made it to the top. Day 11 St. Paul Outside the Walls

Day 11 St. Paul Outside the Walls "Outside the Walls"  Today after Mass at Sant' Andrea della Valle, we journeyed outside the ancient walls of Rome to visit the tomb of St. Paul. Day 16 Chiesa Nuova

Today was an example of how God's plans are not always ours! We planned to go to Mass at the Church of the Stigmata of St. Francis, a nearby church we had not been to yet. When we arrived a few minutes early, there was a sign on the door telling us that there was no Mass there this week. So we rushed over to the Gesù, only to find that Mass was not for another hour there. We decided to go back to the first church to have some prayer time before returning to the Gesù. We laughed about what the locals were thinking as we went back and forth repeatedly!
